The Toffees have not agreed to alter the terms of the £10m deal agreed with Tottenham during Dele's transfer in January 2022, according to . Dele moved to Goodison Park on a free transfer but the deal had a clause where the Merseyside club will have to pay the sum if and when the player makes 20 appearances for his new side.

The English midfielder played 13 matches for his new club during the 2021-22 season and was then sent on loan to Besiktas. He returned to his parent club in April 2023 but is yet to feature in a match in the current campaign owing to a thigh problem that forced him to undergo surgery. Recently Spurs made an offer to change the terms of the agreement by reducing the fee to £8m in exchange for decreasing the number of minimum appearances from 20, which Everton have rejected.

The 27-year-old last played a competitive match nine months ago which was for Besiktas against Antalyaspor on February 26. His loan spell in Turkey turned out to be a nightmare as he scored just thrice in 17 appearances for the club.
